NASCAR fans have overwhelming favorite for Cup Series Championship 4 race

NASCAR fans are backing 2024 Regular Season champion Tyler Reddick to be crowned Cup Series champion on Sunday in Phoenix, Arizona. Reddick will be competing against the defending champion, Ryan Blaney, two-time champ Joey Logano, and William Byron.
A poll conducted by the Daily Express Sport US shows that 36% of respondents are backing the 23XI Racing driver to be crowned Cup Series champion for the first time. The 28-year-old has scored three race wins thus far this season, with his last coming at Homestead-Miami to book his place in the Championship 4 two weeks ago.
However, Reddick will need to be at his very best in Phoenix after having mixed results in the playoffs. He has just two top-ten finishes in the playoffs since Atlanta.
Nonetheless, Reddick will look to achieve a lifelong dream and he starts from 10th. “I just think about when I really fell in love with racing as a very young kid, watching NASCAR on Sundays, or hanging out at the track with my dad when he raced,” he told ESPN. “I just always wanted to hopefully one day be a Cup Series driver. Then the ultimate dream come true would be to become a Cup champion.
“But then, you add to that what you just mentioned. Michael is the champion. He has been so bought-in with 23XI since Day 1 to help the dream of his become realized, too. I don’t know what the emotions are going to be like.”
Logano is second to Reddick in the Daily Express US’ polling, with 32% of respondents believing in the Team Penske driver’s knack of winning championships in even years. Logano won in 2018 and 2022. “Logano wins the war for a third time,” one said.
“Logano. Race is just reeking of a 22-car domination. He hasn’t had one for nearly two years, barring the all-star race, so he’s due. If he doesn’t then it will be the 12,” another said.
Defending champion Blaney was also popular among respondents. Blaney booked his place in the Championship 4 with a win at Martinsville in Virginia last weekend.
He has the momentum heading into Sunday’s action and many fancy his chances at going back-to-back – a feat not achieved since Jimmie Johnson won five between 2006 and 2010.
Byron, the youngest out of the four at 26, had the shortest odds. He made the Championship 4 after Christopher Bell was penalized last weekend for wall-riding. NASCAR fans have given him just an 8% chance of winning the Cup Series title in his second-ever Championship 4 appearance.
